| Master's Tea: Matt Segal |
| Description: |
The Branford Master has agreed to sponsor a Master's Tea with Matt Segal. Everyone is welcome to attend, though seating space may be limited, so try to arrive ahead of time. (Do NOT sign up for this "trip" - we cannot guarantee seating to anyone.)
Matt Segal is an awesome climber who, despite coming from the flat and boulderless Miami, FL, has become a force to be reckoned with, both competitions and in the outdoor climbing world. He has won, among other things, first place in ABS (American Bouldering Series) Nationals in 2004. Since then, he has shifted his focus to mastering single-pitch trad routes. One of his best-known accomplishments was doing the first ascent on Iron Monkey (5.14) in Eldorado Canyon, Colorado. His sponsors include The North Face, La Sportiva, and Black Diamond.
Matt has a lot of insight to share from his experience with climbing, climbers, and the outdoors. He studied Buddhism intensely in college, and now works with several climbing advocacy organizations like the Access Fund and Paradox Sports.
